The Wallis believes everyone deserves to learn and grow through the arts...
Arts learning is integral to all that we do at The Wallis: connecting audiences with the very best in the performing arts; using the power of the arts to build community and address pressing
social issues; and responding to critical needs in the greater community through arts leadership, collaboration and partnership.
Our School Partners Program serves as many as 10,000 Los Angeles pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students each year through student matinee performances and corresponding workshops for teachers. We also have in-depth partnerships with Wallis Focus Schools in underserved communities. These partnerships include matinee performances throughout the season, sessions with visiting teaching artists, arts career days and opportunities for students and parents to attend shows together.
Courses for Young Artists: We are proud to invest in the development of young artists through in-depth courses such as The Art of Choreography, The Art of the Small Ensemble: Classical Music & Jazz and Songwriting for the Theater. Our course offerings also include collaborations with organizations such as The Miracle Project, which provides theater programs for young people with autism and their typical peers, and Broadway Dreams, a summer intensive program with professional Broadway performers for anyone who has the dream and drive to appear on The Great White Way.
The Wallis Student Arts Reporters Program offers select students the opportunity to attend performances and learn the craft of arts criticism.
Master Classes with visiting artists provide exceptional opportunities for young artists to learn from some of the great artists of our time such as Suzanne Farrell, Judith Jamison, Patti LuPone, Arturo Sandoval and other extraordinary artists.
The Wallis nurtures the artist in all of us with Community Classes. These include Tiny Tots Move & Groove and Dancing Through Parkinson’s with Invertigo Dance Theatre and Salsa Sundays – free outdoor dance classes led by Debbie Allen.
Through our Community Partners program, The Wallis invites other nonprofit agencies and the people they serve to become part of our Wallis Family, allocating free tickets to shows throughout the year and convening partners to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
