Final West Coast Engagement
Leonard Bernstein was a conductor, pianist, author, educator, librettist, television star and the composer of three symphonies, iconic film scores and the American musical classics West Side Story, Candide, On the Town and Wonderful Town, among others. He pushed boundaries to become the world’s first serious musical media superstar and changed the face of music. In his inimitable style, Hershey Felder brings Bernstein to life through first-person narratives combined with his compositions, as well as music by Beethoven, Mahler and more, drawing audiences deeply into the maestro’s fascinating life.
This production is made possible by generous support from the Lynn and Les Bider Family Foundation.
“Maestro is one of Felder’s best composer tales, thanks to the familiarity of the music and the complicated man at its center.” San Diego Union-Tribune
"The attraction of Felder’s works lie not only in his talents as a pianist and singer but most importantly a storyteller. He provides a moving and beautiful story that helps the audience to see connections between Bernstein and those who influenced him. Bernstein was a great storyteller through his composition and his conducting and so is Felder." San Diego Free Press
