Direct from England, the celebrated Kneehigh Theatre production makes its LA premiere at The Wallis. Switching seamlessly between theater and film using a combination of Noel Coward’s original stage play Still Life and the screenplay of Brief Encounter, Emma Rice, Kneehigh Theater’s Artistic Director, takes you back to a bygone age of romance and the silver screen. Forbidden passion brews in a 1938 railway station tearoom as a suburban housewife, over a series of stolen afternoons, falls madly in love with a married doctor. This ground-breaking theatrical event – ingeniously crafted with whimsical humor, dreamy romance and stunning multimedia effects – was hailed as “a first-class return to romance” (Daily Telegraph) and The New York Times said “Don’t be ashamed if you feel a bit like swooning."
CAST: Joe Alessi, Dorothy Atkinson, David Brown, Damon Daunno, James Gow, Annette McLaughlin, Jim Sturgeon and Hannah Yelland.
