6:15pm-7:30pm
This advanced level musical theater training program for students 12+ provides professional acting, singing, and movement coaching for teens and young adults with autism and all abilities. This course will workshop, stage, rehearse, and perform the original musical, “Work in Progress.” This fully inclusive, program will feature young adults with and without autism and other disabilities in the performance. The original musical is about students finding their passions, living their dreams, and entering into the work world. There will be four performances of the production at the end of the course at the Lovelace Studio Theater at The Wallis from May 2-4 2017. This fully inclusive program will feature TV, Film, and Broadway Actors mentoring our young performers as well as trained instructors from The Miracle Project staff. Through this program, participants will build confidence, practice job skills, learn audition techniques, and create friendships.
Classes are limited to a total of 16 students with and without disabilities. Participants must be able to take direction with minimal support and have experience participating in a group.
Following auditions and callbacks, classes will begin on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017 and end following the performances on April 30th, May 2nd, May 3rd, and May 4th, 2017. Classes are held on Tuesday nights with some additional rehearsals as opening night approaches. Production and rehearsal schedule will be provided once the show is cast.
We are casting teens and young adults, with and without disabilities, who are interested in musical theatre, singing, dancing, and acting. A short application is required, followed by auditions and interviews at The Wallis. Students should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song and, if they choose, prepare a one-minute monologue to present at the audition. The tuition for The Intimidation Game is $650 and The Miracle Project and The Wallis has scholarships available for those in need. If you would like financial assistance, please submit a letter to Ryan at ryan@themiracleproject.org requesting a scholarship and explaining your financial situation.
For beginning, intermediate, and level 1 and 2 classes in the miracle project methodology, please contact Ryan Berman at ryan@themiracleproject.org.
Participants will be part of the Wallis Community and have access to all the opportunities that this partnership provides. Limited scholarships may be available based upon demonstrated financial need.
