ABOUT THE SHOW

It takes a village to raise a child. Los Angeles has a wealth of resources and opportunities for children and youth. But imagine growing up alone, without the support and guidance and love of family or other caring adults around you. Where would you stay? How would you navigate school? How would you get food on your plate? How would you cope with the loneliness and loss? Unfortunately, too many young people in LA are left to fend for themselves. The Advot Project and The Wallis are proud to present “Listen” - a forum for young people to share their personal stories through the performing arts – whether a song, poem, dance, or theatrical scene. The Lovelace Studio Theater will provide a space to bring our community closer together. We hope the stories of these youth – both the struggles and the triumphs – will inspire all of us to act and to change.  Together we can create a community where no young person had to grow up alone. #NotAlone

Guests will be seated around small tables to experience the stories of these young people, have a chance to ask them questions, and then will be invited to turn to each other at their table and reflect on what each of us can do to make a difference. The invited audience members will represent the diversity of LA and bring together people from all walks of life who want to learn more and do more to empower and support young people.

The events will be on December 13 at 4:30pm and 8pm.
