J. BACH: Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248
Celebrate the holiday season with the joyful cantatas of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, led by LACO Music Director Jaime Martín and featuring singers from the Los Angeles Master Chorale alongside acclaimed soprano Amanda Forsythe. Known for her luminous tone and crystalline clarity, Forsythe brings warmth and brilliance to Bach’s soaring vocal lines. This beloved masterpiece unfolds across three cantatas that trace the story of the Nativity, from the quiet wonder of the birth of Jesus to the angels’ jubilant annunciation to the shepherds. In true Baroque splendor, the score dazzles with trumpets, timpani, hunting horns, and richly colored winds that capture the spirit and pageantry of the season.
This is holiday music at its most magnificent: music filled with joy, hope, and the miracle of new beginnings.
