Three composers, three distinct sound worlds, and one sweeping journey through classical grandeur, hypnotic minimalism, and neoclassical wit. The program opens with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 25, performed by acclaimed pianist Richard Goode, whose signature clarity, warmth, and emotional insight reveal a Mozart both elegantly poised and deeply human. Philip Glass’s Symphony No. 3 then shifts the atmosphere entirely. Written for strings alone, the work builds through pulsing rhythms and evolving repetitions, creating a sound world that feels alive and constantly in motion. The evening concludes with Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, a playful and inventive reimagining of Baroque forms filtered through Stravinsky’s sharp wit and unmistakable musical voice.
Across these three works, each composer turns to the past to create something entirely new, revealing music’s endless capacity for reinvention.
