THE WALLIS & LOS ANGELES CHAMBER ORCHESTRA PRESENT
MARTÍN + BANSAL + SHOSTAKOVICH
Apr 12, 2026
Past and present come together in a musical conversation led by Music Director Jaime Martín. LACO marks 25 years of Sound Investment, with the premiere of Juhi Bansal’s latest orchestral work, a score that pushes at the edges of genre and tradition. Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers—“the coolest thing to happen to the violin since Stradivari” (Denver Post)—takes center stage for Eric Whitacre’s THE PACIFIC HAS NO MEMORY, a piece written for her and a meditation on nature’s vastness and transience. The mood darkens with the taut emotions of Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony for String, before lifting into the vitality of Prokofiev’s exuberant “Classical” symphony.
