Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 and one of the most acclaimed drag artists of her generation, Sasha Velour returns to The Wallis with Travesty, a bold new solo work that traces queer history across time. Through a series of lip-sync performances, Velour embodies a litany of personas from a witch burned in a field to a clown who builds a theater and patrons of an underground gay bar — weaving together cycles of resistance and survival in a form that fuses performance art with living history. A multidisciplinary artist, Velour has redefined drag as a contemporary performance practice in which spectacle and meaning are inseparable. Blending costume design, choreography, and incisive cultural commentary, she creates work that is as visually arresting as it is emotionally resonant.

This is drag at its most daring — an evening that lingers long after the final image fades.
