Three monumental works. Three very different emotional worlds. LACO Music Director Jaime Martín shapes a program that journeys from mourning to joy, and from introspection to heroism, through the full range of human experience. The evening opens with Richard Strauss' Metamorphosen, a profound elegy for 23 solo strings written in the final days of World War II that mourns a world in ruins with extraordinary depth and tenderness. The mood then lifts with Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, where pianist Conrad Tao brings his fearless technique and poetic sensibility to an effervescent score alive with jazz-inflected energy. The program culminates with Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony, a revolutionary masterpiece that journeys from struggle to renewal in one of music’s most powerful and enduring statements.
From elegy to exultation, this is an evening of music that redefines emotional scale.
